Water birth is a birth process that is done in warm water. In the womb, the baby is in the amniotic fluid. By birth in the same environment, it will be more comfortable for babies, as well as lowering mom’s stress levels.

What are the benefits?

  • It is soothing, comforting, and enhances energy
  • Buoyancy will reduce mom’s weight, making it possible to move more freely so that the contraction is also more efficient. Blood flow will flow more smoothly.
  • Water can reduce stress hormones, and make mom’s body produces endorphins, pain reducer.

Don’t do the water birth if

  • You suffer from herpes. Herpes very easily transmitted through water.

  • You are diagnosed with severe bleeding and infection in pregnancy.
  • Twins, in this case consult with your doctor.

Does warm water is not harmful to pregnancy?
It’s depends on water temperature. If the water is too hot, dehydration can be risky for mom and baby; also can raise the body temperature and heart rate. So, make sure the water temperature is stable at a temperature of 36 degrees C and in sufficient amount. Should provide enough drinking water and a cold cloth to wipe mom’s face and neck, it also for prevent dehydration.

How long a baby can survive in water?
In the United States, infants are usually removed from the water in the first 10 seconds after birth. Appropriate steps be done is to lift the baby without hurry and put him to sleep in mommy’s arms.
